My assignment is in the non-formal education sector started in 2011. Although I sometimes work as a classroom English teacher, most of my job is to reinforce learning capacity outside of the classroom (through tutoring programs) and to serve as a liaison between schools and communities (programming events such as career fairs). I run student clubs and camps which teach life skills such as sexual education, family planning, self-esteem, good decision making, preventing malaria and HIV/AIDS and other topics to ensure that students remain in and excel at school. I also co-teach with Burkinabe teachers in order to incorporate critical thinking skills and creativity in the classroom.
My secondary activities include income-generating activities with the local women's group so that they can have a means of income independent from their husbands, a hygiene and sanitation project which includes constructing latrines and hand-washing stations, and making enriched porridge with local resources for mothers and their infants at the health center.
